Developing ideas is, in short, what a mechanical engineer does. The mechanical engineer creates ideas, develops and designs new products. This process is a result of a combination of creative skills and engineering skills. Social and economic conditions as well as work-related and environmental conditions are also part of the process. As a mechanical engineer you will not only get close to technological developments, you will acquire the knowledge and tools that enable you to influence progress. notions such as responsibility, professional competence and the ability to assess risks characterise the mechanical engineer.
This programme is professionally oriented and structured so that, in the course of the programme, you will work with project themes in close cooperation with companies within the fields of industry, automation, energy and environment. As a mechanical engineer, you may choose between three areas of specialisation:

- Intelligent Mechanics and Systems
- Sustainable Energy

Progression
The university currently offers no related Masters programme, taught through English
Entry Requirements
General Certificate of Education with examination in 8 subjects where at least 3 are A-levels, alternatively 2 A-levels + 2 AS-levels. Subjects to include Maths [at A Level] and Physics
Leaving Certificate, showing at least 6 subjects of which at least 2 Higher Level subjects (at least Grade H5. Subjects to include Maths [at Hons] and Physics. Chemistry also preferred.
FETAC Level 5 Certificates and Level 6 Advanced Certificates will be considered for admission only to same study field as they would gain entry for in Ireland. Subjects to include Maths [at Hons] and Physics
